About 2 years ago, I bought a 7 string Schecter hellraiser and I believe it was around 500 back then. Schecter is by far not my guitar of choice but was good enough for an experimental guitar. |

Check our rondomusic.com
They have quite a few really nice 7 string guitars with EMG's for that price.
Awesome finishes and hardware too...definitely worth taking a look. |

Look for an Ibanez RG1527 or 7620. Ibanez makes by far the best 7-string guitars out there (imo). |

if you spend any less than a grand on an Ibanez you're going to get some WEAK pickups. |

Agile Makes Great 7-strings for 600-750 range. Floyd rose, EMG pickups (even though I prefer dimarzio) great action, the works. my guitarist recently picked up one and loves it. check em out. |

Implying any stock pick up besides brand names (EMG, Dimarzio, etc...) are any good. |

Yeah...they're not so great. |
so you would recommend replacing them with Seymour Duncan black outs or something similar? |

yeah definitely. Ibanez guitars feel pretty good(to me), so with some better pickups they are great |

Dunno if you're into the body style but the xiphos comes with Dimarzio De activators. All the Badass-ness of active pickups without the Battery-Changing bullshit. |
