Watching the "It is Our Will" studio video, Derek is doing something with his left foot during the blast beats. I know that Derek does single foot blasts, so what is he doing with his left foot? |

He is following the guitar rhythm with his left foot on a ribbon crasher. Listen and you can hear the little trashy *chick* of the ribbon crasher. |

Yeap, ribbon crasher.
Derek is the only person I know of, that does left foot rythms, while blasting. |

Yeah, but I didn't noticed it until I saw his videos that he posted. Then I noticed it in his songs, works well. |

I believe Hellhammer did that somewhere on "Chimera", something crazy with three differently-tuned bass drums and a remote hat. |

That's correct. The song is "Slaughter of Dreams". |

Flo also does left foot stuff while blasting although DEREk is the first I have seen separate the rolls between the hihats and bassdrum to create a polyrhythmic feel ie (I Monarch )

There are others that are doing it nowadays.
I started doing it before I joined HE, As far back as 1998.
Flo had just started messing with it shortly before we did the performance with Matthew Barney in 2002. (we talked about it)
Hellhammer was really curious about the ribbon crasher on the tour HE did with Mayhem in 2001 and said that he had some chops to steal (this was before Chimera)
All in all.........I was the first to perform and record left foot patterns while blasting, the first doing multi pedal ostinatos and the first to play another beat on top of blasting.... in the metal genre. |

Sorry...I suppose there's too much respect, eh? OK then:
"Derek, you arrogant bastard!"
Satisfied?
Still, your claim was fair. |

Hi-Hat tricks while blasting doesn't count, right?
I've heard many records from the 90's with that kind of stuff. |
